There are many reasons to have a laptop in your truck. Why buy a GPS when you can buy a program for about $100 with an antenna that will turn your laptop into a GPS receiver. The screen is many times larger than a small GPS screen on the mobile units, and you get all the other features of the laptop at your disposal. Your passenger can watch DVD's while you take care of the driving duties. You can check your e-mail at truck stops that have wi-fi hotspots, and use mapping software like Mapquest or Google Maps for driving directions.
