Please note that if you have a 1997-2004 Ford with the 7.3L PowerStroke, that you can choose where the Brakesmart connects to the Master Cylinder.  Choose the (Rear) option if you would like to connect to the rear port and the (Front) option if you want to connect to the forward port.

The BrakeSmart brake controller is back!!

Each kit comes with a BrakeSmart unit and the harness of your choice to connect the unit to your truck.

These units weren't available for a while but there was still demand for this controller.  Many people had to settle for the standard inertial type brake controllers because the unit they really wanted wasn't available.  Now that the BrakeSmart is back, you can get the best trailer brake controller available for your truck/trailer setup.    

The difference is in the technology.  The standard brake controllers out there use pendulums and accelerometers to detect when you are applying the brakes.  There are situations where these types of controllers will leave you hanging.  Lets say you hit a patch of ice, sand, or wet roadway.  If you are trying to stop while on these surfaces, you could push your brake pedal all the way to the floor and your vehicle would just keep on going.  Guess what? - a normal brake controller won't sense that you want to stop because you're not slowing down!! 

The BrakeSmart is different.  Not just because of all the extra features either.  Because it doesn't use accelerometers or pendulums, the BrakeSmart knows that you are applying the brakes because it senses pressure in your vehicle's brake system.  When you hit the brakes in your truck you hit the brakes in your trailer - every time!

The BrakeSmart controller is much more than a brake controller.  Using a proprietary method, the BrakeSmart controller communicates with other Master Brake Systems, Inc. intelligent devices on the trailer.  For example, Suspension Technologies, Inc. air ride trailer suspensions can be remotely controlled by the BrakeSmart.  The driver can command the trailer to lower and lock the trailer brakes for loading of the trailer.  Automatic side to side leveling can be performed for parking or loading at the driver's command.  The trailer may be raised to provide additional ground clearance for driveways or rough terrain if necessary.

No other controller can boast the features of the BrakeSmart.  The BrakeSmart controller configures itself automatically to provide the smoothest, fastest response and most proportional truck to trailer brake response possible.  Trailers with electric brake systems perform better than with any other brake controller.  BrakeSmart reads the actual electrical current required by the trailer brakes.  As heat builds in the trailer brakes, the BrakeSmart compensates by increasing the voltage to maintain constant trailer braking force.  This feature reduces the common brake fade experienced in electric brake systems using conventional electric brake controllers.

The BrakeSmart controller detects the type of brake system on the trailer.  Electric brakes or hydraulic brake systems are controlled optimally by BrakeSmart.  Even the gain settings are automatically retained for differences in electric and hydraulic brake systems.  And, since the BrakeSmart reads actual truck brake system pressure, annoying gain adjustments for loaded or unloaded trailer conditions are eliminated.  Ease of use is one of the remarkable features of BrakeSmart.

The BrakeSmart controller gives you proportional trailer brake in relation to your tow vehicle.  It achieves this by utilizing a pressure sensor mounted at the master cylinder that measures the output pressure of your tow vehicle.  The pressure sensor utilized is compatible with all ABS systems used for any tow vehicle.  It does not displace any brake fluid and it is the same sensor that many manufactures use in their Vehicle Dynamic Control systems for ABS.  This measurement is turned into a signal and sent back to the actuating system on your trailer brakes.  This is all accomplished using microprocessors; there are no pendulums or accelerometers in the BrakeSmart.  The BrakeSmart controller easily attaches to the dash and is a truly intelligent computer brake controller for both hydraulic and air brake tow vehicles.  Just choose the appropriate wiring harness kit for your vehicle and you're ready to go.
